Migration – What You Need to Know

November 3, 2020

If you have an existing SIP company and want to upgrade it to a more modern service you need to take steps to ensure the migration is successful. There are many things you can do to ensure the migration is completed successfully by the migration company.

When it comes to a migration, a company will look at your current company plan and will need to identify which features the new company will be adding and deleting. The migration company will need to check and verify that all the features are already in place. This should include features such as voice conferencing, call forwarding, video conferencing, audio and video conferencing, messaging, virtual call, voicemail, call waiting, conference calling, auto attendant and voicemail.

If you need to use additional services provided by the company you are migrating to you should make sure they are available and installed. Some companies will offer these extra services if your company does not have them.

Once you have done the migration company will provide you with information about the migration process. You will have to agree to the migration plan so your company can start to migrate the services to the new company.

It is important to remember to follow the migration plan. You will need to use the services provided by the new company as per the migration plan. If you have any special requirements you should let the migration company know at this stage.

It is also important to remember that the migration will only be complete as long as you have accepted the migration plan. Any changes to the software you use or any other hardware will need to be checked by your company. This can be very time consuming and may result in the loss of some important data.

As your company uses the new provider for voice and data, you may find it easier to get your business switched over to the new provider. However you need to ensure you have your network switched over to the new provider and you have a copy of the IP address so you can connect to your new provider’s services.

Finally you need to ensure that you have no objections to the migration. You should make sure that all the servers that were taken down are turned back on and that all the migration software you used has been removed from the servers.

It is essential that you do not use any more migration software than you have to. If you have any excess software you should get rid of it before you start the migration.

You should also take care when you do the migration. This will ensure you get a smooth transition from the old provider to the new one.

One thing that you need to consider is what your role will be when the migration is complete. There are many people who are concerned with the data center, hardware and network, and so forth. These are the people who need to be involved in the migration.

If you are not involved in the migration, you should consider consulting with your migration company. They will have an expert who will be able to guide you through the process. They will have knowledge of the tools used in migration and they will be able to advise you on how to handle things at your end.

To summarize, the migration is going to be difficult if you are not involved and if you are not experienced in it you will need to hire a migration consultant. If you need help in any of these areas ask for help.
